Calibration

The "Calibration" toolbar contains settings for calibration as well as functions for loading and saving calibration projects. The settings are organized into functional groups.

Calibration toolbar

"Dimension" group

The "Dimension" group contains options for selecting the type of calibration.

Option Description/function
3D Spatial calibration using topographic data
2D Lateral calibration with image data

"Settings" group

Component
Description/function

Detection Settings

Selection of preconfigured settings for detecting and measuring calibration marks

NOTICE
The preconfigured settings are stored in XML files, which are loaded from a specified directory on the PC. Each file is displayed as an entry in the drop-down menu. If necessary, the files containing the settings can be modified, or new files can be added. See also Detection settings.

Parameter Settings

Selection of preconfigured settings for calculating the transformation parameters

NOTICE
The preconfigured settings are stored in XML files, which are loaded from a specified directory on the PC. Each file is displayed as an entry in the drop-down menu. If necessary, the files containing the settings can be modified, or new files can be added. See also Adjustment settings.

Comment Entering comments (e.g., name of the person who made the changes)

"Project File" group

Component
Description/function
New Creating a new project file
Open Opening a project file in XML format

View

The "View" toolbar contains functions for displaying and graphically analyzing measurement data and calibration results, as well as for exporting the graphical representations.

View toolbar

"Zoom" group

Component
Description/function
Zoom In Zoom in
Zoom Out Zoom out
Original Size Display of data where 1 display pixel = 1 data pixel
Zoom to Fit Adjusting the data display to the current display area

"Display" group

Component
Description/function
Points Display of measured calibration marks and selecting the character color
Rejected Points Display of the discarted calibration marks and selecting the character color
Error Vectors Display of the error vectors and selecting the character color
Point Size Selecting the character size for the calibration marks

"Error Vectors" group

Component
Description/function
Lateral Residuals Display of lateral residual deviations
Vertical Residuals Display of vertical residual deviations
Scale Selecting the scaling factor for displaying the error vectors

NOTICE
The error vectors represent the residual errors remaining after the transformation parameters have been calculated and taken into account ("residuals"). They allow for an assessment of the calibration’s quality, for example, by identifying nonlinear systematic errors that could not be detected by the calibration. Since the residual error vectors are usually very small, they can be magnified using the “Scale” function. In the "Data View" section, the scale of the error vectors is shown next to the image scale.

"Brightness and Contrast" group

Component
Description/function
Brightness Adjusting the brightness using the slider or by entering a value
Contrast Adjusting the contrast using the slider or by entering a value
Reset Resetting brightness and contrast

NOTICE
The brightness and contrast settings do not alter the measurement data. These settings are intended to improve the visibility of the results. For this reason, they are included when exporting to an image file.

"Save" group

Component
Description/function
Image Exporting the current view of the measurement data area to an image file

Results

The "Results" toolbar contains functions for saving and exporting calibration results, as well as for creating reports.
