Detection Settings

Detection settings include all settings, which are required for marker detection, decoding and sub-pixel measurement and allows for adapting to different measurement devices (e.q. SEM, AFM, CLSM).

To select detection settings in the software, the corresponding files must be stored in a specific folder:

C:\ProgramData\point electronic\microCAL\DetectionSettings

If different, the corresponding application data directory must be stated on the application settings file. The DetectionSettings folder can contain any number of files with specific detection parameters, which can then be selected in microCAL. The file extension must be .xml; the file name without the extension is used as the display name microCAL.

File format is XML.

Main sections

Element Attributes Explanation Value Examples Default
settings Main element, contains general settings and all other elements
app Compatible apps/libs
task Compatible function calls
coordinates Definitions for the applied coordinate systems and processing methods
dimension Dimension of the coordinate system "2D" or "3D"
type
method Applied method for height interpolation "bilinear"
template Definitions and thresholds for the template applied for marker recognition
type Marker type "ring" or "circle"
hough Definitions and thresholds for marker detection with hough transformation
crosscorrelation Definitions and thresholds for marker detection with template matching
decoding Definitions and thresholds for marker decoding
subpixel Definitions and thresholds for subpiel marker measurement
type Applied method "CCSubPixelParaboloid"

Notes

  • dimension defines if the detection return only x, y (for "2D") or an height value z in addition (for "3D")
  • type is not used so far, in future it may used for differentiation between pixel or metric measurements or definition of units
